Jehlum Post News| Srinagar| June 29, 2014|Hailing decision of the Union Government to provide telephone and other basic facilities to the traders engaged in the cross LoC trade, patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed

Sunday emphasized on the need of taking some effects steps to win hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Decision to provide telephone and other facilities to the cross LoC traders is endorsement of PDP’s stand because we have been demanding that adequate infrastructure should be developed to further boost this trade”, Mufti said while addressing a function to welcome senior National Conference leader, Tariq Mohiuddin, who joined PDP along with hundreds of his supporters today. Terming opening of Line of Control (LoC) for the movement of goods and people as biggest the ever Confidence Building Measure (CBM) to improve relation between India and Pakistan, Mufti reminded that PDP has been demanding to institutionalize the cross LoC trade by providing normal trading facilities. He said that telephone, banking, financial and other normal trade related facilities were essential for the traders of both the countries so as take maximum benefit of this CBM.

Observing that dealing with the problem of Kashmir is a biggest challenge before the BJP led NDA Government headed by Mr Narendra Modi, Mufti reiterated his demand that holistic approach should be adopted by the new government to win hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “There is need to create jobs avenues for the unemployed youth of the State”, he said and hoped that new government would follow the path shown by former Prime Minister Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee. He lavished all praise on Atal Behari Vajpayee for initiating historic steps to normalize relations between India and Pakistan.  He gave all credit to Vajpayee for prevailing peace on borders as, according to him, the ceasefire announced by former Prime Minister was one of biggest confidence building measures between two countries.

“Only a leader like the stature of Vajpayee can take such historic initiative”, Mufti said, while recalling former Prime Minister’s speech at Srinagar on April 18, 2003 wherein he had extended hands of friendship towards Pakistan at the time when there was eyeball to eyeball situation on the borders. “Had Vajpayee not taken that historic step, there would have been no peace on the borders”, he observed. Mufti asserted to carry forward the agenda of peace, said, “PDP has shown in the past that it can facilitate the resolution process with prudence, and it is ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking the process to its logical conclusion”. “In 2002 we had only 16 members but still we had pursued the peace process with determination and commitment and established peace in this region.

“It was all due to the credibility of the PDP that previous NDA regime headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee had whole heartedly supported whatever initiatives taken by us for restoring peace in this region”, he said. Reiterating resolve of his party to safeguard interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti said that PDP’s goal was to ensure inclusive political and economic empowerment of the people of J&K in a positively evolving Indo-Pak arrangement. Regretting that National Conference led coalition regime during the last six years has created chaos in the state, Mufti said that most of the problems J&K is facing today are because of NC’s lust for power as the party has always used people’s mandate to seek luxuries for its leaders. “Using the people’s mandate to seek power instead of working to uphold the aspirations and sentiments of people, NC leadership has served a big blow not just to its own credibility but to the people’s faith as well,” he added.

The controversy around Nestle's Maggi noodles has caused panic throughout the nation and it doesn't look like it will die down any time soon.

After the initial test results by Uttar Pradesh Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showed harmful levels of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in Maggi, various states across India and even Bangladesh conducted tests on Maggi to find out whether the food product is safe or not.

The controversy around Maggi has led to tests being conducted across the country.

The entire controversy began when the UP FDA last month asked Nestle India to withdraw a batch of Maggi noodles "which were manufactured in February 2014" after it found high levels of added MSG, a taste enhancer, in the noodles and lead beyond permissible limits.
