NC’s senior leader Sheikh Nazir passes away PDF Print E-mail

altJehlum Post News/Srinagar/ Feb 24, 2015/ Veteran National Conference (NC) leader and former General Secretary of the party Sheikh Nazir passed away on Tuesday in Jammu. Sheikh Nazir breathed his last early Tuesday morning after suffering renal failure. He had been admitted in Jammu government medical college on Sunday and was put on life support system following deterioration of his health condition. Early in the morning on Tuesday he breathed his last. Sheikh Nazir’s body was brought from Jammu to Srinagar and was taken to the Sheikh family residence on Moulana Azad Road. Muhammad Abdullah, Sheikh Nazir ruled the party as its general secretary for nearly three decades. A bachelor and a highly respected gentleman, he was very close to NC patron and his cousin Farooq Abdullah. It was generally believed in Jammu and Kashmir that most of Abdullah’s crucial political and even administrative decisions were influenced by him.

    The controversy around Nestle's Maggi noodles has caused panic throughout the nation and it doesn't look like it will die down any time soon.

    After the initial test results by Uttar Pradesh Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showed harmful levels of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in Maggi, various states across India and even Bangladesh conducted tests on Maggi to find out whether the food product is safe or not.

    The controversy around Maggi has led to tests being conducted across the country.

    The entire controversy began when the UP FDA last month asked Nestle India to withdraw a batch of Maggi noodles "which were manufactured in February 2014" after it found high levels of added MSG, a taste enhancer, in the noodles and lead beyond permissible limits.
