altJehlum Post News/Srinagar/ Feb 11, 2015/ Commending people for observing complete strike to commemorate the anniversary of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said the commitment and resolve of Bhat and Afzal Guru towards freedom struggle was exemplary. While denouncing the government imposed restrictions on the movement of people from past three days, “The authorities have restricted the political activities of pro-freedom leadership, arrested and house arrested them, imposed curfew, and converted the whole of Kashmir into Jail which is being ruled by the gun and military boots.” He said such acts clearly reflect that the New Delhi and its local extension in the Kashmir’s ‘so called’ mainstream were fearful of people and their love, affection, commitment and resolve for freedom.“They feel so threatened that they locked the entire Kashmir to restrict people from observing the martyrdom anniversaries of their beloved martyrs. By observing complete strike, the Kashmiris have demonstrated their preferences, a referendum witnessed by the whole world,” he said. “Kashmir dispute was a living reality and its resolutions was must for the peace and stability in the region. He said that repression, bloodshed, militarization and state sponsored terrorism have failed to suppress or weaken the struggle since 1947. India should realize that military might alone can’t change the historical and political realities of Kashmir, adding, India should start a meaningful dialogue with all the stake holders to Kashmir issue to solve it on urgent basis and extricate the region from the constant source of instability and insecurity,” Mirwaiz added. Meanwhile, a delegation of Hurriyat (M) comprising senior leaders Musadil Adil, Ghulam Hassan Mir and others who were on their way to visit the ancestral house of Bhat to take part in a prayer gathering at Trehgam Kupwara were arrested by the police. The spokesman denounced their arrest by the police terming it as anti-“democratic and tyrannical.” He also condemned the arrest/house arrest of senior Hurriyat (M) leaders Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi, Mukhar Ahmad Waza, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Ghulam Nabi Waseem and others by the authorities.
