altJehlum Post News/Srinagar/ Feb 19, 2015/ With 13 new patients tested positive of swine flu, the toll of people infected with the deadly H1N1 virus has reached to 84, while two patients have already died. Medical Superintendent of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura Dr Farooq Ahmad told local news agency that on Thursday 45 samples were taken for tests and out of which 13 were found positive. Asked how many patients with Swine Flu were admitted in the Hospital, he said, “There are four patients are admitted and one among them is on ventilator.

We have kept the patients in isolation and are monitoring their condition regularly.” With these 13 new cases, the total number of people in the Valley who tested positive for the swine flu virus has climbed to 84. The Medical Superintendent refused allegations of some patients that they were not treated in the hospital and provided the drugs. “This isn’t possible as we have established a separate clinic for H1N1 patients where doctors are available round the corner. I refute these allegations that any patient was not treated. Hospital can’t refuse to treat any patient,” However, he said, that ad there is limited stock of drug available, it can be given to only those who are in dire need of it. “Drug will be issued to patients after the concerned doctor signs it and I counter sign. We have to utilize our resources judiciously,” he added.Swine Flu deaths have soared to 663 across the country while number of people affected by it breached the 10,000 mark as the virus spread to new places like Nagaland.
