altJehlum Post News/Srinagar/June 25, 2015/ While strongly condemning the use of force by police over Kashmir University students who were protesting against the arrest of one of their colleague, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday alleged that it is the worst kind of state terrorism and it has no moral and constitutional justifications. While expressing his surprise and deep sorrow over the arrest of a Kashmir University student for opposing the “Yoga” day, he demanded his immediate release. “Whatever the reality or the purpose of this “Yoga” is but it can’t be thrust upon the people and no civilized society can force the people to adopt the tradition or religious sign of any other religion,” he said in a statement. Geelani strongly condemned the arrest of Muzamil Farooq Dar, a scholar of KU’s English department

by police and said that the university administration is duty bound to take serious notice of the arrest and use their influence for his immediate release.“Playing with the career of the students has become norm in Jammu & Kashmir. They are arrested on false and baseless charges and then FIR is registered against them on the same fabricated cases. It is a killing for the future of the students and it can’t be termed other than the state terrorism,” he said. While terming the forcing of people for the implementation of “Yoga” program as undemocratic and unjustified, Hurriyat (G) chairman said, “Yoga is not only a body exercise but it is linked with a particular culture and it can’t be thrust upon the people. Like in the any Muslim country in the world, the people related to other faiths can’t be forced to offer Sallah or Fasting, in the same way the Muslims can’t be forced to do Yoga.”
